Ridiculous Hospital Car Park Charges

I have decided to write an email to Bradford Teaching Hospitals regarding the ridiculous car park charge of £2.50 for only 40 minutes. Below is the email I have sent.

I will update this blog each time when I have some news.

Dear Sir or Madam,

To whom it may concern, please forward to the relevant personnel.

I am writing to make a formal complaint about the unfair and unreasonable car parking charges at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

While I understand that visitors and patients are given 20 minutes to find a space before charges apply, the current fee of £2.50 for only 40 minutes of parking is entirely disproportionate. Many patients, including myself, attend short appointments lasting no more than 45 minutes, yet are forced to pay for 2 hours stay. This is neither fair nor justifiable.

For a hospital setting—where visitors and patients are often under considerable stress—the parking system should demonstrate understanding and compassion, not add to people’s burdens. The present arrangement feels exploitative and fails to reflect the values expected of an NHS facility that should be supporting, not profiting from, those seeking care.

Those who are just getting by with money, or those who are on benefits may not have the money to spend on parking.

I am requesting a full review of the current parking charges, specifically to introduce a fairer rate for short visits of 40–60 minutes. The current setup undermines public trust and places unnecessary financial strain on patients and visitors alike.

Please confirm receipt of this complaint and provide details of what action will be taken to address these concerns.

Yours faithfully,

xxxxxxxxxxxx
